8 Reasons to have a Winter Wedding

Choosing the season you want to get married in can be a daunting task. The allure of hot weather in Summer, the oranges and yellows of Autumn and the fresh pinks and blushes of Spring can all be enticing. But here are some reasons why we think you should take the leap and go for that ‘Winter Wonderland’ wedding you have been dreaming about, right here at Woolverstone Hall.

One: Cost!

Weddings in winter can help you save some money and spread that wedding budget a little further! While couples flock for those few-and-far-between summer Saturdays, the prices of venues and suppliers alike can often rise to meet that high demand. However, choosing an off peak month like November, December or January means that you will be saving some much cherished money to spend on something else to make your big day even more magical!

Two: Competition

With less weddings means less supplier competition! You will have the best chance possible when it comes to your number one photographer, musician, florists and more! Meaning you can make your day totally yours, without compromise.

Three: The Photo-Ops!

There is an opportunity for your wedding photos to really stand out from the crowd. Woolverstone Hall in the winter can make for the most beautiful wedding shots, whether that be walking around the snow covered grounds, or indulging in the warm glow of our Orangery. Your wedding shots are sure to stand out.

Four: No More Wedding Fatigue

Don’t fear the wedding burnout - in winter, you can bank on everyone being there! Getting married in the summer may mean some of your valued family and friends having to make tough decisions about which weddings to attend. Or, they may have attended so many weddings that summer that by the time they get to yours, they could just be plain bored! Wedding fatigue is a real thing. Having a winter wedding means that people have something to look forward to and they likely won’t have to make any tough decisions.

Five: Comfort

The fifth reason is COMFORT! For a lot of Grooms and their Groomsmen wearing a classic 3 piece suit, or even a Tux, is a must; especially in a grand venue like Woolverstone Hall. However, that warming 3 piece becomes slightly less appealing in 30 degree heat! It is much the same for Brides; if you dream of a classic ball gown or a vintage long sleeve dress, you may be much happier in cooler climes. Or if not, a fur bolero oozes glamour you can't get in summer.

Six: Food & Drink

We can't forget food and drink now, can we!? Us Brits do love our food and in winter you can fill your guests up with their favourite hearty classics (and ensures guests' stomachs are appropriately lined). That doesn't just stop at the food, serving up mulled wine or warming hot chocolate is sure to make your wedding stand out and contribute to that cosy feeling.

Seven: More Party Time

There is one big plus to the darker months, the party starts earlier! As the sun sets earlier in the winter months, you don't have to patiently wait for your first dance to get the party started. The scene will be set perfectly (our Orangery has beautiful twinkling fairy lights and dimmable lighting that really sets the atmosphere!) for you and your guests to party the night away.

Eight: The Dream Honeymoon

Finally, a honeymoon escape to the tropics will be so much sweeter in winter. It will break up the cold months and be a lovely contrast to your winter wonderland day. Who doesn’t love a little winter sun!?
