The drinks you serve at your reception can be a great way of making your wedding memorable and putting your signature stamp on your big day. Here at Woolverstone Hall you have complete reign over what drinks you serve, so you can be as creative as you want. Here are a few ideas that we think will help to make your big day even more special for you and your guests…
Think about the seasons
A summer wedding is a perfect time to serve Pimm’s or even some Bucks Fizz. Not only are they summer staples, but your guests will appreciate a more refreshing drink as the sun beats down overhead. In the same vein, a winter wedding is a perfect time to serve your guests some festive specials. Serving mulled wine or Irish hot chocolates is a great way to stay warm, and lets guests get in the mindset for some winter festivities.
Making it personal
Our favourite thing is when a couple comes with their own ideas for a signature cocktail. You can concoct it yourself with your favourite spirits and mixers or be cheeky and take a staple cocktail and rename it yourself!
Have fun naming your cocktail, popular options are your pet's name, a favourite holiday destination or even morphing your names together. If you are feeling particularly brave you can hand the baton over to the best man or maid of honour to be creative and design the cocktail for you. Having a signature cocktail is a great way to incorporate who the two of you are into the wedding, and it is always a great conversation starter.
Non-alcohol options are a must
Think about the non-drinkers! There will be people who won't be drinking at your wedding, whether that is children, designated drivers or pregnant women. Make sure they have a good selection of soft drinks; a virgin cocktail is always a nice option! It allows the non-drinkers to feel included and shows you have thought about them from the start.
Quantity is key!
Our final piece of advice when thinking about what drinks to serve at your wedding reception is...make sure you have enough! You don’t want to be the couple that runs out of alcohol before the night is out, so make sure you know your guests well. Are they big drinkers or are they happy with one glass of fizz for a toast? Once you know that, you are good to go.
