It’s time to delve into part two of our Top 10 Questions to ask your Wedding Venue. We’re making sure you have all the questions and answers you need to make the most out of your wedding viewing. If you missed part one, you can read that here. But now let’s take a look at questions 6 to 10!
six: is there accommodation available?
If you have friends and family coming from afar it is always lovely to have some accommodation recommendations to offer them or include in your invites. So it's worth asking early on in the viewing process if the venue has accommodation on-site or if there is any nearby that they can recommend. Some venues will be able to offer discounts and packages so worth an ask! Here at Woolverstone Hall we have some lovely options for couples and their friends, with our on-site accommodation The Dairy House, and some fabulous local accommodation we can recommend.
Seven: is there a room for getting ready or a bridal suite?
Whether you plan to get ready at the venue with your bridal party, or you just want to ensure there is a quiet room for make-up touch ups or changing for the evening reception, it’s great to know what rooms are available to your at your venue. A bridal suite, lounge or quiet room can be invaluable on your wedding day so it’s well worth asking. Not all wedding venues will have the facilities for you to get ready there on the morning of your wedding, but they may have a suitable room, so it’s always good to check. If you’re staying in our accommodation, you have all the facilities for you and your wedding party to get ready on site, but if you’re just taking the hall for your wedding day, we can still offer you a wonderful lounge for a bit of peace and quiet!
Eight: What’s included?
It may seem obvious, but it’s one that is easily missed! You should always ask what is included in the hire fee. You should be clear on what rooms, furniture and extras are included before booking. You will also want to establish how long you have the spaces (the period of hire) and if you get exclusive use. If there is furniture included in the hire fee, it is also helpful to find out how big the tables are, and what the furniture looks like as this will all be helpful when it comes to creating your table plan, styling your wedding and hiring tablecloths, tableware and decorations!
Nine: is confetti allowed and Can you have fireworks?
Confetti and fireworks, often connected to weddings in the movies and magazines, but sometimes harder than you think to actually have at your wedding! There are often strict rules about the type of confetti permitted and whether or not you may have a fireworks display and this all comes down to nature and the area your venue is in. So it should definitely be on your questions to ask your venue list! Here at Woolverstone Hall, we do allow our couples to have fireworks but as long as they are done by a licensed company, and confetti is welcome as long as it is natural - it’s worth exploring the venues rules and regulations.
Ten: can you decorate the venue?
Some venues have restrictions in place when it comes to decorations. If you have dreamt of an abundance of decorations, hanging floral structures, or walking down a candle-lit aisle then it is best to check with the venue early on if they would be able to facilitate the ideas you have in mind. Some venues do not allow naked flames or hanging lights and drapings all for health and safety reasons, so again, you should ask at your viewing so you know before you book!
So that concludes our Top 10 Questions to ask your Venue blog, we hope you now feel fully prepared to go out to those viewings and book the venue of your dreams! We’re so happy that viewings are returning, if you would like to arrange a visit to Woolverstone Hall then you can do so here.
